Ottawa Italian Festival 2023 is around the corner. This year we are bringing you an action-packed 11-day Festival with extended programming, with two weekends of activities on Preston Street plus our weekday events!
The festival will run from June 8-18 with a lineup of new and spectacular events! We’re hosting twice as many musical performances this year, plus unique programs such as our Olive Oil, Cheese, and Wine Masterclasses. From live music, street performers, and opera concerts, to stand-up comedy, club nights, kids zone and much more… we’re bringing it all!

Directed by Giuseppe Piccioni, starring Riccardo Scamarcio (Romanzo Criminale, To Rome with Love) and Vincenzo Nemolato (Gomorrah), The Shadow of the Day is set against the backdrop of the rise of Italian fascism in the 1930s and the increasing oppression of its Jewish community.

Ottawa’s own Anna Romano Milne will be participating at the Accenti Magazine 1st International Festival of the Arts. Anna is a regular contributor to italocanadese.com and is on the editorial board of the Association of Italian Canadian Writers. At the festival, Anna will be reading her short story “Chameleons.”
The Accenti Magazine International Festival of the Arts is more than just a celebration of Accenti’s 20 years. It is a tangible expression of the vitality of the Italian cultural heritage in the world. The Accenti Festival will allow a diverse range of cultural agents – writers, performing and visual artists, scholars and the general public – to come together under one roof in what promises to be a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, forge new relationships, and celebrate the arts.

Conferenza presentata dalla Società Dante Alighieri Roma – Abitare, scrivere, vivere l’italiano
Abitare, scrivere o parlare una lingua come se fosse un mondo: da questa idea nasce la “Consulta lingua-mondo” della Società Dante Alighieri, voluta dal Presidente Andrea Riccardi, che e’ stata presentata a Roma martedì 30 maggio in occasione della Giornata della Dante 2023 e coinvolge scrittrici e scrittori di origine straniera che scrivono in italiano.
Presenti sono stati Jhumpa Lahiri, scrittrice nata a Londra da genitori bengalesi e cresciuta negli Stati Uniti, che ha conseguito un dottorato sul Rinascimento italiano e ha curato una versione in inglese della Divina Commedia, e Kossi A. Komla-Ebri, medico e scrittore togolese-italiano, particolarmente attivo nel valorizzare il ruolo degli autori che come lui sono portatori di “qualcosa di nuovo” nella cultura italiana.
L’incontro è stato moderato da Paolo Conti, editorialista del Corriere della Sera.
