Martedì 9 maggio, ore 19.00 – Salone Culturale: Presentazione del libro “Canada. Storie, visioni e sfide di un laboratorio del futuro”, di Paolo Quattrocchi e Giuliano Compagno”
The Dante Alighieri Society of Ottawa, in collaboration with the National Congress of Italian-Canadians, is pleased to announce that Paolo Quattrocchi and his guest Marianna Simeone (former Quebec Delegate to Rome) will be in Ottawa to present his book “Canada. Storie, visioni e sfide di un laboratorio del futuro”.
With an autobiographical approach, the book passionately relates the history, politics, and notable and ordinary people of a nation whose citizens “in just 150 years (…) have created a society based on trust and mutual respect for all. They have served as a model for many European countries and a source of hope for the world.”
Paolo Quattrocchi, a lawyer at the ADVANT Nctm law firm, is the Director of the “Italy-Canada Study Center”, where important contributions from international scholars on the social, cultural, political, and economic relations between the two countries converge. An expert in international business, he has been conducting research and in-depth studies on the Canadian phenomenon and its unique features for about twenty years.

Sabato 20 maggio, 1:00pm-2:00pm EST – Presentazione del libro “L’Artista dell’anima. Giotto e il suo mondo“
La Dante Alighieri Society of BC, in collaborazione con la Dante Alighieri Society of Ottawa, vi invita alla presentazione del libro di Alessandro Masi“L’artista dell’anima. Giotto e il suo tempo”.
Un testo che intreccia documentazione e creatività, sostenuto da citazioni letterarie e dalla presenza in controluce di grandi personaggi come San Francesco d’Assisi e Dante Alighieri, nel tentativo di ricostruire, nelle sue diverse sfaccettature, tra luci ed ombre, la figura di Giotto che, rinnovando e riempiendo di umanità la pittura medievale, pose le premesse per il nostro grande Rinascimento.
Alessandro Masi, storico dell’arte e giornalista, è segretario generale della Società Dante Alighieri. I suoi interessi spaziano dal futurismo (Zig Zag. Il romanzo futurista, il Saggiatore) a trattati di politica culturale del ventennio fascista Giuseppe Bottai. La politica delle arti. Scritti 1918-1943, Editalia). Il suo studio sull’arte italiana a cavallo tra fascismo e repubblica (Idealismo e opportunismo della cultura italiana. 1943-1948, Mursia) ha dato vita a un dibattito sulla figura di Palmiro Togliatti e gli intellettuali.

Ottawa Italian Festival 2023 is around the corner. This year we are bringing you an action-packed 11-day Festival with extended programming, with two weekends of activities on Preston Street plus our weekday events!
The festival will run from June 8-18 with a lineup of new and spectacular events! We’re hosting twice as many musical performances this year, plus unique programs such as our Olive Oil, Cheese, and Wine Masterclasses. From live music, street performers, and opera concerts, to stand-up comedy, club nights, kids’ zone and much more… we’re bringing it all!
